Sustainability Officer [Hong Kong S.A.R.]

The Sustainability/Net-Zero team is looking for a Sustainability Officer to support the growth of the HKUST Life Cycle Lab (LCL). The LCL has two areas of focuses: (1) to develop educational resources to explain and support the learning of life cycle thinking, and (2) to develop a network of professionals in the Hong Kong region who might utilize life cycle thinking in their work. The appointee is expected to learn about hands-on sustainability work from the ground up while being part of an international and diverse team.

Reporting to the Manager, the appointee will assist in enabling the HKUST Life Cycle Lab to have a more far-ranging outreach in promoting life cycle thinking in education, campus operations and the fast fashion / food and beverage / construction industries. Key responsibilities include:

  • assisting in the development of communications materials, including the improvement of a user-friendly website, curating and copywriting technical writing, graphics and videos for webpages, newsletters and social media;
  • Engaging with various user groups including academic staff, operations teams, students and industry practitioners;
  • Collaborating with LCL staff to develop and implement training resources;
  • Assisting in identifying and improving upon communication KPIs by analysing results of social media and website outreach and other analytics measures; and;
  • Assisting in coordinating events and activities.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 1 to 5 years of relevant work experience. Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered. Proficiency in website editing, photo and video editing software as well as skills in digital contents publishing, research and copywriting, user interface/experience design and events organisation will be added advantages. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, detailed-minded and creative, with a strong willingness to learn about sustainability. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
