Job Description

Spacecraft Systems Engineer

Luxembourg


At EVONA we are looking for a Spacecraft Systems Engineer to join our client in Luxembourg to design a debris-clearing spacecraft & prepare the execution of its first mission.

You will be the key member of a small team building designing a low-cost, multi-role, agile space platform and implementing its first mission. You would be responsible for the full design of the platform and mission (starting with a phase A/B1 project), the coordination with their partner organisation, and the technical management of the project team.

The operation aims to blend the responsible, high-quality engineering practices of traditional aerospace engineering while implementing the rapid iterative development methods and community-oriented workplace culture of a forward-looking New-Space style start-up.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior spacecraft early design experience.
  • Prior mission definition experience.
  • Operational knowledge of each other spacecraft design domains, including:
  • Structural & thermal
  • Propulsion
  • Attitude control
  • Power management
  • Data management & Communications
  • Ground infrastructure
  • A positive, driven, collaborative and autonomous attitude.
  • Experience in, or an enthusiasm to develop skill in, technical team management.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior spacecraft full-lifecycle experience
  • Involvement in a previous spacecraft MAIT or LEOP campaign
  • Skill with trajectory planning tools (STK/GMAT etc)
  • Competence in concurrent design tools & methodologies
  • Deeper knowledge of spacecraft attitude control theory, modelling, and implementation
  • Deeper knowledge of monopropellant feed & propulsion systems
  • Experience with rendezvous, proximity and berthing operations
  • Familiarity with the active debris removal problem & methods
  • Familiarity with spacecraft testing, qualification, and launcher requirements
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (GEVS, ECSS, etc)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation, validation, and management of functional requirements
  • Definition of a system development and verification plan
  • Development of mission profile and vehicle concepts
  • Establishment and updating of design baselines
  • Maintenance of various technical (mass, power, link etc) budgets
  • Conduct system-level technical analyses
  • Coordination of supporting expert engineers
  • Cost estimation and technical schedule determination
  • Technical liaising with partner organisation
  • Preparation of key deliverable items and reporting to stakeholders
  • Nurture a new spacecraft capability in the team
