Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Answers and places telephones calls, referring calls to appropriate staff.
Requests services from other departments via computer.
Labels, handles and delivers specimens to lab.
Files and retrieves medical records and charts.
Maintains non-clinical awareness of patient status in Emergency and expedites patient flow, and assists patients , relatives and visitors with non-clinical needs.
Responds to two-way radio calls from ambulance personnel.
Sorts and distributes mail.
By maintaining high standards of excellence, helps the Medical Center fulfill its mission by providing compassionate care and respecting the dignity of others. Applies the principles of "continuous quality improvement" which includes working cooperatively with colleagues and projecting a service orientation toward all.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. or equivalent education/experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Able to input data into computer with speed and accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a stressful environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanc e instructions , and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to present information to patients, patient families and employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay Range is $28.99 to $34.64 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location.
